We build software tools to support our work in sound, writing, and visual perception. Some began as practical utilities. Others came out of rehearsal, installation, or late-night testing. These pieces sit between measurement and the mystical experience of sound. We are interested in tools that can help us reflect on that space between the known behavior of signal and the uncanny sense that something else is present in the room.
We are not interested in inventing new technologies for their own sake. These tools use familiar processes, spectrum analysis, oscillators, noise, phonetics, color models, but they are built for our way of working. The Tone Diviner, the Haint Hummer, the Chant-O-Mancer, and the Chroma-voyant carry the same concerns that move through our performances, installations, and texts. Sound as trace, a presence. Language as vibration. Technology as something that brings its own perspective.
Taken together, they form a small working mythology: instruments for sonic transcription, activating space with long tones, mapping language through sound, and reading the visible world as code.
Tone Diviner
SpiritTracer
Incandator
The Tone Diviner is a spectrum analyzer, a tool for reading vibrations in the air. It visualizes the frequencies active in a space and offers two ways of seeing what is sounding.
SpiritTracer
A linear, real-time view of active frequencies across the spectrum. Direct and clear, it shows how sound moves and shifts as it happens.
Incandator (sonic heatmap)
A slower, more interpretive view. Incandator gathers sonic energy and renders it as a smeared ember in 17-second intervals, allowing sound to accumulate before it is seen.
Haint Hummer (drone and noise instrument)
Drone Generator
Spectral Projector
The Haint Hummer is a sound generator for building sustained tones and spectral atmospheres. It is used to establish presence and shape it over time.
Drone Generator
A four-oscillator drone tool with switchable waveforms: sine, triangle, square, and saw. A low frequency oscillator introduces motion, and a subtle dollop of reverb gives the tone space to linger.
Spectral Projector
A colored noise generator with multiple modes: white, black, blue, brown, and violet. Each noise trigger can rise and fall using preset fade-in and fade-out settings, shaping how the noise enters and leaves the space.
Chant-O-Mancer
Chant-O-Mancer (writing tool)
The Chant-O-Mancer is a writing aid that generates rhyming words based on vocal sound rather than spelling. It works from phonetic and sonic qualities, closer to the voice than the page.
It is designed for poetry, lyrics, and spoken text, where rhythm, tone, and resonance guide the writing.
Chroma-voyant
Chroma-voyant (color translation tool)
The Chroma-voyant is a tool for seeing color systems inside the visible world.
Using any attached camera,it captures real-time imagery and translates what it sees into multiple color specification systems, including CMYK, RGB, HEX, and Pantone. It offers a way of looking that moves across technical and symbolic registers, shifting between the measurable and the felt.
